PROJECT: Draped Landscapes, Baza, Granada, Spain

TYPE: Urban Ideas Competition for the Alcazaba de Baza

CLIENT: Baza Municipality

DATE: 2007

Alcazaba is perceived as an integral part of its larger background, as a miniature instance of the intense geography of the city of Baza as a whole.  Within this context, ‘Draped landscapes’ are proposed as connective surfaces draped unto the site, proliferated in degrees of contraction and expansion to create a social landscape through continuous folds within the ground, connecting fragments of the city’s existing green open spaces and built infrastructures.
